The New Wave of Standup Returns for Season 5

The CBC Gem Original comedy series The New Wave of Standup returns for season five with all-new episodes launching September 6, 2024 on CBC Gem. The new season showcases emerging comics performing standup sets that explore topics including dating, workplace politics, family dynamics and overall observations about life and finding the humour in it. These rising stars each headline their own 10-minute episodes exclusively for CBC Gem, filmed last February for a live audience at Just For Laughs Vancouver.

The New Wave of Standup Season 5 features 12 Canadian comedians including Alistair Ogden from Toronto, Ahren Belisle from Toronto, Cassidy Anhorn from Vancouver, Eva Alexopoulos from Montréal, Faris Hytiaa from Calgary, Jordanne Brown from Saskatchewan, Myles Anderson from Vancouver, Rachel Manson from Toronto, Rebecca Reeds from Toronto, Sam Sferrezza from Toronto, Spencer Adamus from Winnipeg, and Tamara Shevon from Toronto.
