Anne Murray's Gift To All: The Ultimate Christmas Collection
Anne Murray is the Queen of the North this holiday season with the release of her Ultimate Christmas Collection. Curated by Anne herself, the album is a collection of her personal holiday favourites. The album consists of many classic holiday songs like I’ll Be Home For Christmas, Let It Snow, White Christmas, and Baby It’s Cold Outside -- a duet with Michael Bublé. A personal favourite of mine is the upbeat Gospel number No Room At The Inn, the simple arrangement of piano and tambourine allows you to focus on the vocals from Anne and the choir, and it will get you bopping along.
Murray, who is originally from the East Coast (small brag), has had a long illustrious career filled with trailblazing accomplishments. She was the first solo Canadian woman to reach the top of the charts in the U.S, and the first woman to win Album of the Year at the Country Music Awards. Anne has won four Grammy Awards, a record-breaking 24 Juno Awards, and she’s been inducted into so many Halls of Fame it's hard to keep count.
Anne Murray's music is timeless and she is an idol to many, including myself. I have been lucky enough to sing in front of Anne Murray, perform in a Dinner Theatre at The Anne Murray Centre in Nova Scotia, and this summer I got the opportunity to meet Anne virtually over Zoom (it was a big day for me, did I cry . . . yes).
This gift that Anne has bestowed upon us with The Ultimate Christmas Collection starts the season off on the right note with the magic that is Murray’s rich singing voice. As one of Anne Murray’s biggest fans, this album will be played on repeat at my house this holiday season!
The Ultimate Christmas Collection was released November 20, 2020 on Universal Music Canada.
