Album Review: Amar Singh, Please Don't Kill Me

Amar Singh's latest YouTube special and album (with bonus material) is a rather eclectic 40-minute set that sees the comedian tossing out one bizarre but highly amusing concept after another. From scientific discoveries concerning his romancing with pigs (bovine variety) to being a second wheel and auto-fellatio, Singh walks that comedic tightrope that is shocking at times but in the right, WTF laughable way.

The comic delves into the sexuality spectrum, speaking about gay porn while then moving into an amusing anecdote concerning what he thought were magic mushrooms. Most of the album are two-minute or three-minute pieces that aren't in-depth but hit the marks more often then not. Although there are many funny lines, a piece on dance duo The Chainsmokers ("background music for sexual assault") is an early highlight.

Approaching well-worn ideas with a fresh outlook is one of Singh's biggest assets, particularly when melding sex with financial institutions and giving tips to ATMs for their service. And then there's the acronym CBT and what it means to two different segments of society. The set sags slightly about two-thirds in but finishes strong. For the most part, Amar Singh kills for a large portion of this stand-up performance.
