William Prince, P’tit Belliveau Make the Polaris Music Prize Long List
The Polaris Music Prize revealed its Long List this morning and country artists including William Prince and P’tit Belliveau made the list. The 40 album Long List was revealed by past Polaris nominees on Facebook and YouTube.
William Prince made the list for his sophomore album Reliever, which was released February 7, 2020 on Six Shooter Records. P’tit Belliveau made the list for their album Greatest Hits Vol. 1, which was released March 27, 2020 on Bonsound.
In total, 223 albums were considered for the Long List by the 201 member jury. You can see the full Long List here.
The Polaris Music Prize awards $50,000 to the artist who creates the Canadian Album of the Year, judged solely on artistic merit, without consideration for genre or record sales. The 10 album Short List will be unveiled live on July 15, and the 2020 Polaris Music Prize-winning album will be revealed live on the CBC Gem streaming service and CBCMusic.ca/Polaris during a special cinematic event, scheduled to take place this fall.
