Hilarious Spring Launches from Sonar Network
Trevor Campbell from Queerial
The Sonar Network, an award-winning curated collection of podcasts with an expert eye on the Canadian comedy scene, has launched two new podcasts this season that are sure to bring you laughs every week.
Queerial is a darkly comedic, genre-bending radio noir from award-winning creator Trevor Campbell (You Made Me Queer!). Blending satire, mystery, and real interviews, the series follows Detective Campbell—the world’s only full-time queer, part-time detective—as he investigates a bizarre question: what on earth is making everybody queer? With a surreal mix of scripted storytelling, improv, and cinematic sound design, Queerial unravels absurd conspiracies, challenges moral panics, and finds unexpected truths about identity along the way.
“At a time when queer voices are being silenced, erased, and pushed to the margins, Queerial is an act of resistance, a reminder that queer storytelling is here to stay,” said Marianna Miniotis, Brand & Content Manager at The Sonar Network. “It’s twisty, weird, absurd, and deeply intentional. I think now is a really crucial time to celebrate queerness in all its forms and this is a perfect tongue-in-cheek way to do so.”
Ya Sure Why Not is the comedy podcast where best friends and award-winning comedians Alia Rasul and Anesti Danelis dive into the wildest anonymous confessions submitted by listeners. From shocking secrets to bizarre life choices, they read, react, and even turn some into original songs. Part advice column, part riff session, it’s an unfiltered, hilarious look at the weird, messy, and deeply relatable corners of human nature.
ya sure why not cuts through our social media induced illusions with dirty, messy, real, and relatable content. By bringing real people's outrageous confessions into the open, Alia and Anesti tap into something deeply human: the need to be seen, understood, and sometimes, just someone to laugh at our situation with us. It’s a space where shame turns into comedy, and where the things we thought made us different actually really connect us. “We live in a hyper-individualized world that encourages us to hide our imperfections, but this podcast makes room for honesty and humour in all of that,” said Miniotis.
