Deborah Kimmett Is An Overnight Sensation
Celebrated writer and comedian Deborah Kimmett will present her new show, Overnight Sensation, on July 26, 2022 at The Social Capital Theatre in Toronto. Overnight Sensation finds Kimmett on the eve of her first old age security check, asking herself if it’s too late to become an “overnight sensation”.
With her signature sharp commentary, Kimmett punches up on how society stereotypes aging women. The show examines popularity vs visibility, and suggests that it might not be popularity we are all seeking, but to be seen for who we really are . . . a woman whose life is sensational.
“I am turning 65 and during COVID I lost my work, my mom went into a home with dementia, and I started to write this show about aging, and put my memoir classes online. And I learned how important it is to stay creative and keep your sense of humour,” said Deborah Kimmett.
Overnight Sensation takes place Tuesday, July 26 at 7pm at The Social Capital Theatre. Find tickets here.
